Thanks to test protocols carried out in our test laboratory and co-validated with manufacturers, probes from the leading brands have been rigorously tested and approved.

Our UV-C high-level disinfection systems, Chronos®, Chronos® Max and Antigermix® are compatible with probes from all major manufacturers thanks to our test protocols carried out in our test laboratory.

5-Step Testing Process

To guarantee synergy between medical devices, our testing protocol includes laboratory tests of probes and materials provided by manufacturers, lab tests of materials representative of those used in the probes, discoloration assessments, documentary studies, and field observations of probes currently in use.

Step 1

Germitec and the probe manufacturer agree the probemeets the Chronos® Indication for Use, and then agree on the test protocol*.

Step 2

The manufacturer provides probe and/or material samples to be tested in the Chronos®, Chronos Max® or Antigermix®.

Step 3

Germitec tests probes and/or probe material performance, conducting 4,000+ cycle processes.

Step 4

Germitec provides a documentary study with returned probes; the manufacturer observes the probes in use.

Step 5

Probe manufacturer adds Chronos®, Chronos Max® or Antigermix® to their list of approved probe disinfection systems.

*Only ultrasound probes that Germitec lists as suitable for HLD in the Chronos® may be disinfected in the device. Any probe not included in the list of probes certified for HLD by Germitec may not be properly disinfected if placed in the Chronos® device. Any probes deemed not suitable for HLD should be disinfected according to the manufacturer’s instructions using the alternate method(s) identified by the probe manufacturer.

Indication for Use
Chronos® is indicated for use in a healthcare environment to achieve a High-Level Disinfection of surfaces of external, transvaginal and transrectal ultrasound probes that do not contain lumens and that do not contain indentations or channels that are deeper than their widths.
