Systematic disinfection of probes becomes a global standard

In 2017, new guidelines recognize the need for Systematic High Level Disinfection (HLD).

Indeed, many factors such as frequent perforations of protective sheaths, cases of actual contamination in spite of sheaths, Low Level Decontaminations and the increased frequency of reported cases of nosocomial disease, all call for a systematic HLD.

The HLD thus becomes unavoidable and cannot be ignored.

As early as January the World Federation of Ultrasound recommends systematic disinfection and cites UV disinfection as a complete method of eradicating bacteria and viruses.

The European Committee for the Safety of Medical Ultrasound (ECMUS) advocates HLD for intracavitary probes and mentions Antigermix as a recommended method.
