How can you prove the efficacy of Antigermix?

Biotech Germande, specialists in hygiene and microbiology, conducted several tests on Antigermix AS1 which demonstrated the potency and homogeneity of the disinfection of probes. Several clinical studies have also been carried out, including an efficacy study under actual operating conditions performed by HEGP, Hôpital Necker and IRP. The results of this study, published in 2010 in the journal ICHE, validate the Germitec disinfection system.
The efficacy of Antigermix S1 is also guaranteed by the unit itself, fitted with dose measuring sensors which check the level of disinfection provided by each cycle.

Does the Antigermix system comply with current regulation?

Antigermix is CE certified and is audited by LNE/G-Med. In addition, Germitec complies with ISO 13485 and 14971 (medical devices, quality and risks) and ISO 9001 version 2000. Antigermix S1 has also been granted a favourable opinion by AFSSAPS which declared that « Antigermix AS1 is an automated disinfection unit providing intermediate or high level disinfection for external and endocavitary ultrasound probes. Its disinfection principle is based on UVC radiation, and thus provides an alternative to chemical soaking ». Wednesday 4 February 2009 session report.
In addition, Antigermix S1 was explicitly recommended by the Société Française de Radiologie in its May 2008 Bulletin (n°27): « When stains are visible of the ultrasound device and/or on the wipe or single-use dry swab, or after invasive procedures: clean the device and perform an intermediate level disinfection either by immersion in a disinfectant solution or use the Antigermix unit. »

Germitec sells to a wide portfolio of customers, spread over approximately 100 sites in France: public or private hospitals, medical imaging centres, radiology practices, clinics and maternity centres.

How does Antigermix S1 fit into daily medical practice?

The use of Antigermix S1 is simple with few constraints: disinfection is launched in one click and can be performed by the operator or the technical staff alike. The disinfection process immobilises the probe for less than 2 minutes, which is the time necessary to change the drapes and take the patient back to the changing cabin.
